He put his hand over my mouth. “Don’t scream.” I pushed myself away from him, kicking backwards, but he only hung on tighter. Then I tried to do something with my powers, but either I was too tired from the days before or too scared because I couldn’t do anything.
As all this was happening I watched as Dane ran towards me. A look of horror on his face. The square suddenly burst into activity as policeman swarmed the square in SWAT gear. I felt three more people crowd around me, and saw Dane’s determined face as he reached out. I could feel his power swelling outward. I knew that he was in terrible danger. I forced my face free and yelled, “Dane don’t!”
Then I was jerked backwards, and I felt myself falling through space, with the world completely black around me.
